INFLUENCE: “When the sun doesn’t shine….I don’t shine.” A selfish person this is; as his influence is so wide-spread, that even his foul-mood affects those far and near. Bah! Just because Momma feels bad, doesn’t mean everyone else should feel bad along with her.
Don’t take your rotten mood to work with you. If you’re a real leader, you can LEAVE your problems at home. We all have bad days, but taking one’s problems to work with you, and then… taking it out on your staff, and followers; that’s just too much.
A seasoned, well-trained… and fully committed leader… could be going through a divorce, and those at work would never be the wise. S(he) keeps her business close to the chest. Experience separates the ‘seasoned leader’ from the 90-day ‘wonder-boy.’
This advice is good for ALL of mankind… not just leaders, but the everyday ‘Momma’s and Papa’s’ … those who have INFLUENCE over others… not matter their position, no matter if it’s at work, at home, at play… or in the sanctuary. If we are in a position to SHARE our influence… then ‘share the positive’ and leave the negative at home.
We can find COMFORT in Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.
And again… in Galatians 5:19-21 – Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God
