SLAVERY is alive and well. Yeah, you heard me right…SLAVERY. Wadda‘you talkin-bout Willis? NO; I’m not talking “the historical slavery”…. I’m talking about “corporate slavery” in the worldly sense, that which we deal with in our everyday lives.
Starting with Corporate: We’re slaves to work, to the newest project, to our superiors, to the system, to our bank account, to the IRS, our 401K, and to each other.
As to everyday life: We’re slaves to our wife, our children, our parents, our friends, our employers, to alcohol, to drugs, to smoking, gambling, sex, religion, money, food, the mortgage payment, our bank account, and even sleep.
When does it all stop? ….When we’re dead. 1 John 2:16 – For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world.
Most of these slavery issues are controllable. The better question is: What are we doing to control them? If we citizens are not vigilant… we might become slaves to our own government, and to “the system” at large.
To counteract being a “slave to the worldly system”… We ought to considering being “a prayer slave,” or a slave to The Golden Rule…just for starters.
