ENGAGE: When I was growing up… I didn’t even know what “engaging” meant. Maybe it meant “getting engaged,” …you know…to ask someone to get married. In 1958 “engage” meant just one thing. It fit my communication needs perfectly. Today, it means about 22 different things. I have had to become much more smarter, in order to better communicate. I’ve had to become more… engaging. It is now a matter of survival.
Now that I know… I realize, now, that I am much more engaging that I thought that I was. In a broader sense, it could also apply to the process of net-working.” At any rate… by any use of the word… if we expect to be successful leaders of commerce, industry, family, and church… then we must learn the “art of engagement.”
As aspiring leaders…we must CAPTURE other people’s interest, to be AGREEABLE, to DRAW attention to our product; to ABSORB everything around us; and to CAPTIVATE their attention….and, to earn their RESPECT, and their BUSINESS… We MUST … be engaging….
We must EMPLOY every skill necessary to RECRUIT the best people so that they might UNDERTAKE their SHARE of the CATCH. To do otherwise, would SNAG failure. If I could muster up just one word that would better describe engaging (other than the word itself), it would to be: SEEKING. Therefore…
In the Biblical sense, we must go about seeking WISDOM, good COUNSEL, EXPERIENCE, FRIENDSHIP, TRUTH, GUIDENCE, and therefore…GOD.
We are told in…Romans 3:10-11 – “There is none righteous, not even one; there is none who understands, there is none who ‘SEEKS’ for God.”
May God guide the new Administration, and may He Bless America.
……Blessings…cjlb…1/20/17
