To some…Christmas is, well… Christmas. It’s where we run about… chasing the ‘best deals’ in town, for the fulfillment of our Christmas List. It’s all about STUFF…. Exchanging gifts, going to parties… and having a good ‘olé time of it. And, we can’t wait to get rid of all the Christmas trees, ordainments, trash, and remainders and reminders of the hectic weeks leading up to the ‘big event’… Christmas.
To others, it’s the celebration of CHRISTmas… the birth of the Christ Child. It is the realization that Jesus was actually the ‘only son of God,’ in whom… God sent to earth… through the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary… that is…through the intervention of the Holy Spirit… The ‘savior of the world… for all of mankind’ … died on the cross for ‘OUR SINS.’ All of our sins. Your sins… my sins, and their sins.
Jesus came to us… to fulfill the LAW… as told to us by the Apostle Luke … in Luke 2:12 – “And this will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.”
And later… in John 1:29, we are told – “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him. John said, “Look! The Lamb of God! He takes away the sin of the world!”
And, the Apostle John says in John 3:16-17 – “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not parish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.…”
If we have… really… been ‘listening’… for the last several days, through scripture… then we KNOW what happened, and what we… as believers… are celebrating… The BIRTH of Our Savior, The Lord Jesus Christ….the SAVIOR of the world.
Many blessings, as we closer to Jesus…cjlb…12/26/2017
