LEGACY: It is that part of our life, which when we have departed for ‘higher ground,’ that we have ‘left behind’ …for all to remember us by….usually MONEY… will get their attention. “Show me the money” …as the saying goes.
If we’ve only been fishing once or twice, then no one really cares. If we’ve won every major fishing tournament, then we’ll be missed by a lot of the ‘die-hard’ fishermen that will, at least… try to beat our record catches.
And… If we’ve made a lot of moo-la, and spread it around for everyone to enjoy at our expense…then a lot of people will miss us… particularly family. If we’ve saved a few souls along the way, no one will remember…but, Our Good Lord. If we were the Mother Theresa, Billy Graham, or Pope John-Paul II… types… then a lot of people would care…more so. We should consider what our legacy is going to be?
I would like to have saved, at least, one soul for Christ…but, even more so… I’d like to be remembered for being a “fisher of men,” and recognized as a ‘follower of Christ.’
What a great joy there would be in leading someone to Christ. Remember: We all can be God’s instruments in the salvation of others. This is not just the responsibility of people in the ‘full-time-ministry’…but every Christian is called upon to witness for Christ, and every Christian can be a soul-winner. The Lord Jesus said, in Matthew 4:19 – “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
I would like by Legacy to be one who ‘suffered for Christ.’ We are told in…Matthew 5:11-12. “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”
…Many Blessings… cjlb… 10/8/2017
