“…If you’re like me, then…..Maybe it’s time for a ‘reality check’…”

Those UNCONFESSED sins: I know… as you’re reading this …you’re probably thinking…what does this have to do with me?   Or, maybe you’re wondering…just maybe…I ‘need to get right’ with God.  I KNOW… for me… I have some unfinished business.  I’m thinking of the things that I should have done, that I didn’t… and the things that I did… that I shouldn’t have.  A few come to mind:

  1. Taking that ‘extra-long look,’ when I shouldn’t have.
  2. The ‘deduction’ given, but not deserved.
  3. The information that I withheld, that I shouldn’t have.
  4. The people I avoided, that I shouldn’t.
  5. The incorrect charge that I didn’t report.
  6. The money found but not returned.
  7. The opportunities not taken to spread the Gospel.
  8. The inappropriate words I thought, but didn’t speak.
  9. The appropriate words I should have said, but didn’t.
  10. The prayer opportunities I failed to take.
  11. The lies I spoke, but passed off as ‘white-lies.’
  12. The smile I received, but didn’t return.
  13. The gossip I spread….
  14. The empty envelop I dropped in the collection plate.
  15. Acting like I heard something that I didn’t actually hear.
  16. Hearing something that I acted like I didn’t hear.
  17. The pleasures I took, but shouldn’t have.
  18. Refusing to respond to God’s commandments.
  19. Taking credit for something I didn’t do.
  20. Exaggerating the facts of the issue.
  21. Allowing someone to think something of me that I didn’t do, or deserve.
  22. Demanding something from someone which was not fair.
  23. Overcharging for a service rendered.
  24. Failing to help someone who needed help, which I could have easily provided.
  25. Failing to love my neighbor…as myself.
  26. Expecting the undeserved.
  27. Being too prideful.
  28. Harboring grudges.
  29. Failing to be humble.
  30. Failing to accept responsibility for my errors.
  31. Failing to give proper credit to those deserving of it.
  32. Failing to fulfill my responsibilities.
  33. Failing to recognize that I’m not self-sufficient, or self-made.
  34. Being judgmental of the worldly; and failing to be judgmental of the saved.
  35. Seeking undo attention to myself.
  36. Failing to follow the ‘The Golden Rule.’
  37. Failing to give a decent tip to a deserving waiter.
  38. Failing to properly recognize my spouse for her role in my life, and family.
  39. Failing to provide spiritual leadership where, and when…possible.
  40. Failing to adore God as my Savior, first and foremost.
  41. Failing to have ‘heart-felt-prayer’ on a consistent basis.
  42. Failing to realize that God is all I have, and failing to realize that He is all I need.

While this list ‘is not complete,’ is does cover a lot of territory.  And, NO… I don’t admit to all of these sins of omission…but some have my name written all over them…but, probably, between you…me, and that other guy…we’ve done it all…and then some.  We all KNOW ‘right from wrong,’ and I don’t need to tell ‘fill in between the lines’ for anyone…but I do feel compelled to ‘remind my friends to get right with God,’ before the TARDY bell rings.  If you’re like me, then…..Maybe it’s time for a ‘reality check.’

Many blessings as we…all of us… fill in the blanks….cjlb…9/5/2017
