Actions vs In-Action: Think about this for a moment: If one were to just sit back and “let it happen,” …I guarantee it will happen. If one wants to prevent “it” from happening, then they need to get off their duff and do something. It’s called ‘taking ACTION.’
If someone is pointing a gun at you… are you just going to sit there and let it happen? If someone is stealing from you, are you just going sit there and let it happen? If sales and profits are going down, are you going to just sit there and let it happen? You may have inherited the job; appointed to it; or elected…..it makes no difference…if the ship is sinking…than we MUST do something. Doing nothing… guarantees ‘nothing’ will come of it. Nothing in… nothing out. Nothing in….Failure out.
In-action is the process of ‘doing nothing’… abandoning one’s responsibility. Action, on the other hand…will produce something… a change of some kind. ACTION is inciting CHANGE… forcing the process to move forward. Good, bad, or indifferent… Action is forcing CHANGE. Change is good.
God doesn’t care for IN-Action… idleness… stillness… being lukewarm. John tells us in Revelation 3:15-16 – I know your deeds; you are neither cold nor hot. How I wish you were one or the other. So because you are LUKEWARM – neither hot nor cold… I am about to spit you out of My mouth. These are pretty stern words, and are meant to be… and, they’re to encourage us to ‘get off of our duff… do something, move forward.’
We are clearly told of inaction and apathy in…Matthew 25:41-46 – “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
There is no justification for further delay…choose now…to do the will of God. Repent of every wrong deed… inaction, and apathy. Instead… do what is good in the eyes of God, and do it for His Honor and Glory.
