What does Wisdom look like? Um… If you look closely, then you’ll see that….Wisdom is kind, gentle, gracious, loving, smiling, honest, Godly, pure, reasonable, concise, peaceful, a good listener, patient, wise, impartial, prodding, prayerful, un-wavering, merciful, diligent, relentless, charitable, compassionate, and respectful. And finally, one MUST have a “saving relationship with Christ.”
Can a person who possesses Wisdom be all of these things at the same time? Probably not, but with the Grace of God….then YES! After all, we humans have a sinful nature, and even people who have reputable Wisdom make mistakes, and don’t always fit the “Glove of Wisdom,” in the best of form.
These attributes would best describe what a person should look and act like. And, if you are keenly set on “finding wisdom,” then likely you will find him/her to be most like I’ve described. Anyone pursuing Wisdom must be relentless in their pursuit, out of a passionate love for Jesus Christ, and, it will manifest itself within a sincere heart.
Remember, too, that what God grivet, God can take away. So, one MUST not abuse this God-Given gift, less they lose it. James 1:5-6 – “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.” James 3:17 “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.”
We are also told in Psalm 1 that those who meditate on God’s Word will receive His Blessings. The wisdom found in the Bible will help guide us such to avoid the wrong friends and influences. With Meditating, memorizing, studying and dwelling on…brings God’s promise of being like a tree planted by a river. The person will have the life-giving nourishment that God provides through His Word. A further promise is that God will guide their way in life; and do so… more abundantly.
And finally, we are reminded in Job 12:12-13 – Is not wisdom found among the aged? Does not long life bring understanding? “To God belong wisdom and power; counsel and understanding are his.
