“…It is not likely that God has abandoned us, but rather… maybe we have abandoned God…”

SUPPORT: SUPPORT from all the normal sources…or, NO SUPPORT:  We have a natural tendency to “expect” support for our endeavors from our co-works, peers, neighbors…family, friends, our employer, and for that matter…even our fellow church members.  I know that I do. When we embark on an important project; it is natural to expect support from these areas that are, typically, familiar with us, our work, or at least, by reputation.

I remember…years ago, when running for a seat on my local City Council…I expected support from some of areas… certainly my neighbors and friends.  Since I lost the election by some 200 odd votes… I guess I was …overly expectant.

A few years later…I wanted, to rezone some property, again, I expected support from the ‘normal places.’  But it was not to be.  Both of these examples were probably “blessings in disguise,” as I am absolutely positive that God’s hand was in the details.

With that said… we find in 2 Chron. 16:9, a promise that says:  “The eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.”

Note there that the Lord’s eyes are not searching for the wholehearted – for He already knows who… and where they are. It says that His eyes are moving around looking for ways in which He can support those whose heart are completely His. This wonderful promise assures us that if we are wholehearted disciples of Jesus, then the Lord will move on our behalf to support us throughout our lives, no matter where we might be.

So, when we feel we are not getting the kind of support we expect… then think again… why that support has gone lacking.  It is not likely that God has abandoned us, but rather… maybe we have abandoned God.

Lord, help us to be an instrument of Your Peace, and a conduit of Your Love.
