Where is my place? Where do I fit in? Do I even belong? Better yet, who even wants me…and why? These are scenarios that some of us face every day. At times, we don’t even realize what’s happening…it just happens…unbeknownst. Do you remember those times, possibly even… recently… when those around you just didn’t seem to accept you…maybe snubbed you…talked about you behind your back, etc.
Well, very likely, they were probably trying to figure a way to “get rid of you.” They likely felt that you just fit in with their way of doing things. This happens in all professions… both, in the private and public sectors. It could happen to you, me, or anyone. In FACT, it’s happened to me…too many times; and I might add… in recent times. Don’t dwell on that…rather….dwell on this: Jeremiah 29:11-12 – For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. ‘Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.…
It’s been my experience that there are those who “feel threatened” by the NEW GUY, and do all they can to “do them in.” They think their job is in jeopardy; and feel that you (the new guy) threatens their future. And, the fact is, you may; hence the problem. We are seeing this as a distinct possibility in the Presidential race, currently underway.
If you happen to be the “new Boss,” and you recognize certain weaknesses in the organization, you should be going about the task of “fixin-it.” So… the treat that the old regime fear is genuine…real. You just don’t realize it, because you’re the New Boss. The Boss, therefore, is above all the fray… he’s focused on “fix’in” everything… not realizing that he’s the one that is about to be “fixed.” The new Boss “should be” AWARE of ALL that is going on around him.
There are many ways of getting rid of a new Boss. The current trend is called… “Sexual Harassment” (real or not)…and if that doesn’t scare you off… they will manufacture some union problems… and this is just for starters. “They” won’t give up easily…because they feel that their “future is in jeopardy.”
The Bible tells us in Ephesians 5:4 – Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving. And, in James 1:2-4 – Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. Either way, the New Boss should be AWARE. If you are “that new boss” that no-one really wants, then you must have “eyes in the back of your head. I’m sorry to say… even those you think are the closest to you…. Will turn on you.
Remember this: Ultimately…It’s all about money. Money spent in the right places… will buy time…and security. It will be either… your security and time…. Or theirs.
