“…I’ve been known to dress a bit flashy on occasion…”

BOLDNESS:  A former neighbor used to put his yard trash in front of my house.  I thought him to be rather BOLD….a rather DARING thing to do. I am inclined to be rather BOLD on occasion myself. I rather describe my BOLDNESS as “challenging, or daring.”  I suffer from that malady, more so, from a CAREER objective.  However it (boldness) does spill over into other avenues of life.

I’ve been known to dress a bit flashy on occasion; and my wife considers me to be “forward and showy,” for doing it.  I admit, sometimes, I do it because “I want to be NOTICED.”  The peer-set would consider it breaking certain rules of propriety; maybe being forward in front of management…breaking tradition.

For me…who wants to blend into the wall, or worse, senior management not knowing who I am?  There is risk involved, surely, but the reward is well worth the risk.  Even Steve Jobs knew how to employ BOLDNESS.  He dressed as “Sloppy-Joe” all the time, and because of that…he stood out.  Did Steve Jobs have to “stand-out?”  NO…of course not; but he didn’t want to be confused with anyone else…either….even towards the END.

Corporate American seems to be heading towards the “sloppy-uniform.”  People do “odd” things, act in odd ways, dress in odd costumes…all… to get attention.  Why?  They are SELLING something.  They are selling THEMSELVES, to one extent or another.  They are BOLD!

We all are trying to find that “one thing” that sets us apart from the herd….a TRADEMARK.  Boldness can be recognized, also, as having more COURAGE, more DARING, or more ADVENTUROUS.  Remember Einstein?  His BOLDNESS (his look) was his TRADEMARK.  We all want to leave our TRADEMARK.   And, BOLDNESS is the resource that defines that trademark…for many of us.  Clothing can be steeped with BOLDNESS.   What we used to call wearing a “checked” shirt, for an example, could look more like a “checker-board,”  if you wanted to be BOLD.  So, the next time someone suggests that you’re a bit BOLD… take it as a compliment; because NOW they know who you are.

And, if you’re still a bit concerned about being bold….then, consider this: Ephesians 3:12 – In whom we have BOLDNESS and access with confidence through our faith in him.   2 Corinthians 3:12Acts 28:31 – Proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all BOLDNESS and without hindrance.   Proverbs 28:1 – The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are BOLD as a lion.   Acts 4:31And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with BOLDNESS.

I consider the very fact that I am on LINKEDIN an act of BOLDNESS. The fact that I have a website…entitled: BrOOKS-of-WISDOM, which speaks out with CONVICTION, and BOLDNESS on the word of Our Lord Jesus Christ…. As an Act of BOLDNESS.

My friend, Evangelist, and Bible Study Leader, Adrian Despres teaches us the BIBLE with BOLDNESS,  which for him, is a Gift from God.  So YES, BOLDNESS is a spiritual attribute; which, when properly used, and with the proper intent…is, indeed, a Gift from God?
