THE BURNING BUSH: A while back, I was driving a major avenue in my part of town, and saw a BURNING BUSH at a house, belonging to an acquaintance. I stopped and extinguished the fire, but couldn’t resist taking a picture of it. I’ve returned to that picture many times since, and always reminded of the story of Moses and the BURNING BUSH. (Exodus 3:1-5).
I took this B’B to be my own; representing a turning point in my life. My B’B raised questions as to what I doing; why, how often, and for whom, in terms of fulfilling Christ’s demand on ME? At age 73, and having enjoyed pleasant successes and have been very blessed, yet, I found I was still seeking God’s direction in my life. This B’B became a defining moment for me, in which, God was sending me a clearly identifiable message; saying… FOLLOW ME. Matthew 4:19 – “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”
I’ve had many experiences where Christ was tugging at my heart, and while enjoying an open and sincere relationship with Him – never experienced a defining moment. I was, like many, going day-to-day, tending to business, surviving…trying to be a good guy; but doing nothing SPECIAL. I recognize, now, status-quo is not enough? God expects more from those He has given much; as said in Luke 12:48. For me; I’ve given little in terms of time, energy, love, and only modest amounts of resources, compared to my capability.
My friend, Evangelist Adrian Despres (1), re-introduced me to the Bible verse… Mark 16:15 – He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” Though I’ve read it often, it seemed to CONNECT with me now; providing me with the DEFINING MOMENT, I was seeking. I proceeded to develop a POA (Plan of Action).
I was introduced to LinkedIn by a friend; and became deeply embedded in that process, using it to re-introduce God into the work place. Then, many months later, my website… TIDBITS-of-WISDOM…(www.charlesbrooks.com) was just recently launched; providing the vehicle, by-which, I now, “go into all the world and preach the gospel.” I am not so naive as to believe that thousands, or even hundreds, or “just one,” suddenly, will be affected by my efforts, or website. As of this moment, I would be “heart-felt-satisfied” to lead just one person to Christ, or back to Christ. Could that be you? ….Blessings…cjlb… 9/18/13
