TIME: Something in which some of us think there is an ‘endless supply.’ I heard recently of a doctor who surmised that each of us is allocated ‘just so many heartbeats’ unique to each of us. And, when that number is reached…BAMP’O… you’re out. I suppose that has some merit, as it would seem… that God has the ‘number of beats’ written down somewhere… just waiting…again, uniquely to each of us. But, WHEN?
The fact is…TIME controls everything. Think about it. There is just ‘so much time’ allocated to the moon orbiting earth. God made ‘everything’ in 6 days, and rested the seventh. The gestation period for a human being is 9 months. Elephants take about 20 months, etc. Borrowed money is paid back within a specific predetermined timeframe. There are just ‘so many’ minutes, hours, days and weeks within a year. It goes on and on… everything is controlled by the element of TIME, yet…yet, we take ‘it so much for granted…. The endless supply.
Too often, we conduct our business… and personal lives as if we had all the time in the world. Time is our “most valuable” asset. Let’s not waste our ‘precious time’ on petty dialogue; arguing; day-dreaming; surfing the internet; or trying to figure out how to make an “easy buck”… Or ‘other’ worldly pursuits. We’d be better of using our time more wisely by… furthering our education; expanding our product knowledge; analyzing our customer base; and developing our skill sets….such, that we can adequately use ‘our time’ more WISELY.
Let’s prepare ourselves for the future as if we had “no time left.” We can use ‘our time’ to HELP others achieve their life’s pursuits; help prepare our children… all children, to reach their potential. We can spend ‘some amount of time’ following Jesus’s COMMAND, found in Matthew 28:19-20… “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
We can spend more time following…James 2:14-18, which says…. What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.
Some 30 years ago … I ran for public office, and, in doing so… at the same time I continued to run, and manage four separate companies. I probably added another 40 hours a week, for 4 weeks, on top of my already ‘crowded schedule.’ I did it, though, and when the election was over (I lost)…. I felt like I had a ‘part-time job’ running my business. I was able to fit another 40-hour week job… on top of my regular work. It gave me a ‘great appreciation’ for my TIME… or should I say… my wasted time.
