WHERE IS GOD? There are those who think God does not belong in the workplace. Respectfully, I point out that we Humans are unique, in that, we have been made in the “likeness of God.” We’re told in Genesis 1:27-28 – God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Alright, so that’s clear and out of the way. We are, therefore…. His people.
Look anywhere, look everywhere…. even in the mirror, and you will see the Image of God. Don’t all of us look “similar enough?” So…. to think that God is not…everywhere…even in the WORKPLACE, well… it is not logical. If we are there… then, He is there. We are God’s representative. …All of us. Even those who don’t know it, or don’t realize it.
The problem is…too often; we just tell God to keep His mouth shut; while we insist on running our own. In effect… we’ve kicked Him out of the Boardrooms of Corporate America. He is “officially” not wanted. W-O-W! What are our…so called…LEADERS thinking? We, in America, are the laughing stock of the world. We have “politically corrected” ourselves… out of the running. How do we regain our “worldly stature?” How do we say…”God, I’m sorry?”
There are any number of ways that we can “effect change.” For one… do what I’m doing right now. Sure, it takes a bit of “guts,” but once you get started…well, it’s much easier. Another thing… think in terms of “discernment.” Hosea 14:9 tells us: StumblingWisdom, Human Importance Wisdom, Human Nature Orthodoxy, In OtDownfallRighteousness, Of BelieversValuing Knowledge Whoever is wise, let him understand these things; Whoever is discerning, let him know them For the ways of the LORD are right, And the righteous will walk in them, But transgressors will stumble in them.
We can “pray more.” Prayer is “talking to God.” He will show us the way. At the beginning of his long reign, God gave Solomon an invitation to ask for whatever he wanted. “Ask what I shall give you,” the Lord told him. Solomon prayed for the gift of wisdom—the gift of discernment or the ability to make the best choice when confronted with a number of options. God was very pleased and promised that Solomon would get what he asked for. Today, we still benefit from Solomon’s wisdom when we read the book of Proverbs, most of which was written by him.
We can become, or remain, STEADFAST, in our resolve to do God’s will. Corinthians 16:13 says: Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. And, Galatians 6:9, tells us: Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Let’s take a look at Romans 13:6-7, “For because of this you also pay taxes, for rulers are servants of God, devoting themselves to this very thing. Render to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.” Notice, now, that Paul says that the rulers are servants of God. If these rulers are no longer servants of God and if they contradict Scripture, they are not to be obeyed.
So, there you have it…. Let us, together, bring God back into the “market place.” ….Blessings…cjlb….. 8/2/15.
