“…Most married couples endeavor “to change” their spouse… you know…such that they, the other spouse, will be a much better person than before…”

Image result for caricature of a woman trying to "change" a man.CHANGE: We’re the only one capable of effecting CHANGE. That, by definition is: you and me. We cannot change others, though attempts are “so often” made, or better said …..ATTEMPTED.

It is decidedly more possible, and responsible, through the process of changing ourselves …our own thoughts and behavior…that we can, by example, change the opinion of others. So often, too, by such example; we can actually lead others, not just to change their opinion, but to change their own direction in life. One never knows the “true impact” that we have on others.

We are told in Romans 12:1-2 – I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Proverbs 18:15An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

Most married couples endeavor “to change” their spouse… you know…such that they (the other spouse) will be a much better person than before. Many relationships, marital, social, and even business… have gone the way of a long walk off of a short pier… seeking to accomplish the IMPOSSIBLE. ….CHANGE.

Most of us, even our children (and even pets) RESIST CHANGE. That is why we have so many WARS going on throughout the world… because people want to change other people. Some even are “hell-bent” on CHANGING entire CULTURES. All of this is a complete waste of time, energy, and too often… money. Take the Iran Nuclear Agreement as an example… they’re taking our money (yours and mine) and they’re not going to CHANGE anything. Period!

Our time, money, skills, and diplomacy, can achieve far greater results when directed to “changing ourselves,” then changing others.  With this type of change… when “it” follows the will of God… could change the world. OK… if not the world…then, at least, our family relationship, our social, or our business relationship. Think about it. We are in CONTROL of our own thoughts, words, and deeds.
