NO OFFENSE INTENDED….A few years back…when the SUNSET began to settle on my career… I realized it was time to take the edge out of my personality. By that, I mean to say…. When engaging one, or a group, in conversation, or issuing a directive… I did it, almost AWAYS, such that there would be no misunderstanding about my intent. I intentionally… was very specific, and more then I care to remember… eh…eh….ABRASIVE.
I now refer to “it” as … speaking with an edge. I am sure that too many people took what I said as OFFENSIVE, when that was never my intention. Today, and for some time, I’m committed to speaking with a SOFTER EDGE. I’ve always realized the power behind phraseology…the power of the tongue… but too often, I failed to engage it.
Think about it…but don’t wait decades… as I did. I am often reminded of….James 3:8 – But the tongue can no man tame; [it is] an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
Today, however, I find solace in…Proverbs 13:3 – He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: [but] he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction. And… Psalms 19:14 – Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
My plan, today, is to outlive all those that I’ve ever offended…and, hopefully, improve my Legacy.
…Blessings… cjlb…6/7/16
