“…My point is this: I look out after myself, and don’t expect anyone to do it for me…”

Performance Review(s)… So, what’s the big deal, anyway? After 50+ years invested in my career….I can say this: I’ve NEVER had a bad performance review. Now…that’s a FACT.

For that matter… to my best knowledge…I’ve NEVER had any kind of performance review. At least, not in the formal sense. Why? I’ve had my share of raises and promotions, but NEVER a performance review.

I’ve never expected one, and never asked for one. I was never told that I was going to get one. And, believe me… I’ve worked for some of the largest corporations in America. If they ever did “performance reviews,” then, they NEVER told me about them.

For me… If I didn’t get a raise, or promotion…one, in which… I felt… I should have gotten; then I either worked harder until I got the raise that I felt appropriate… or I resigned…taking my skill-sets to a company more receptive to someone who is hardworking, confident, honest, committed, and loyal. I’ve done both.

My point is this: I look out after myself, and don’t expect anyone to do it for me. If one is not willing to “speak-up” for themselves… then, who will do it for them? You don’t have to be ugly, brazen, hard-headed, or rude… to make your point. Because, if you do…. Then… you don’t have a point. All you have to do, is simply… politely, but firmly…make your case. Often times, the management simply NEEDS reminding, or prompting. Most are too busy trying to run their companies. More typically…. I just move on.

One place you NEVER have to worry about being recognized by your superior… is your relationship with Our Lord, God, Jesus Christ. He is “on top” of everything, and everybody. As told to us in Jeremiah 1:4-5 – Now the word of the LORD came to me saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

Jeremiah 29:11-12 For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. ‘Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.…

And on top of that… the rewards are plentiful…

Luke 6:35 – “But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.

Luke 6:38 – “…Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.

Mark 10:28-31: Then Peter began to say to Him, “See, we have left all and followed You.” So Jesus answered and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel’s, who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time–houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions–and in the age to come, eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”
