Great Leaders: A Leader is that individual that can see silver linings in the midst of clouds of dejection, despair and defeat. Throughout the history of the world… there have been ‘great leaders.’ Our American Military… the 5 Branches of our Military Defense… has been cranking them out for centuries.
Speaking of ‘great leaders’…remember Moses… Biblical scholars believe that when Moses left Egypt during the exodus… with women and children and old men included… the “head count” approached some 2 ½ million people. If all of the Egyptians who chose to join the Israelites were included…then the number likely would be even greater: Exodus 12:38 tells us…“Many other people went up with them, and also large droves of livestock, both flocks and herds”
Alexander the Great is often said to be the greatest military leader of all time. He was born in 356 BC and by the age of 33, he had the largest empire in the history which stretched from Greece to Egypt to India.
British Prime Minister… and a great leader during the WW II…. Winston Churchill… was an able leader, and his greatest victory was in his motivation for others to defend themselves against the Nazis. His determination, perseverance and the patriotic devotion towards the nation motivated the Brittan to move forward and win the war with the help of the Allies. ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’, he said, and won the war and the hearts.
Franklin Roosevelt, an American statesmen and President helped America during some of the worst years like The Great Depression… and WWII. Roosevelt was the only President who was elected four consecutive times, till 1945, when he died… in office
Other great leaders, like Martin Luther King, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, 5-Star General, and President Dwight David “Ike” Eisenhower, General George Patton, General Douglas MacArthur, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi, President Ronald Reagan … and on the negative end… Adolph Hitler. Like him, or not… he was a Leader of great proportions.
Let’s see…who’s missing? O’yeah… Jesus Christ…. the Great Leader, Teacher, Motivator, and… Savior.
Jesus leadership style was selfless…and, flawless. He put himself and his own needs second and ministered to others beyond the call of duty, tirelessly, lovingly, effectively… such so, that He gave His own Life, so that we might have “life everlasting.”
Many of the ‘world’s problems are rooted in selfishness and self-centeredness in which many of our leaders make harsh demands of life…such so… to meet their own self-centered demands. This is in serious contrast to the principles and practices pursued so perfectly… by the perfect example of leadership, Jesus of Nazareth.
God Bless America…and, God Bless… our Military, our Men and Women in Blue, and all those others who serve America… keeping us healthy, safe, and FREE…and, each of you…cjlb….7/17/2017
