Share the Wealth: What? You mean ‘give my money’ away? No…way. In case we forget… Knowledge is money. Knowledge is our wealth. Knowledge is what help generate our wealth. So how to go about ‘sharing the wealth?
No… don’t worry… I’m ‘not advocating’ what we’ve heard so much about over the last decade… INCOME RE-DISTRIBUTION. No…no… not here. I’m taking about ‘sharing what you KNOW.’ One can never aspire, successfully, to be a Leader of consequence… a husband and father… a career peer… or even an athlete… unless (s)he is willing to “share” their knowledge with others.
Sharing our wealth… that is to say…our KNOWLEDGE… is the process of ‘passing down’ through the ranks… what we know about; our job; parenting; being a friend; co-work, or team mate…. It makes no difference. If we don’t SHARE what we KNOW, then we ‘don’t love our neighbor.’
Our ‘neighbor’ is defined as… the guy who lives next door, down the street, a co-worker, our kin-folk, our team-mates, our ‘best-buds,’ our spouses, our children… even our church friends; and last, but not least…OUR ENEMY. Say WHAT? Our enemy, you say? Yes Sir… I mean to say… OUR ENEMY. Until we learn to share with those who we ‘wish to share least’ with, then we’ve not met the rules…. LOVE thy NEIGHGOR.
Do we have to share? NO. Should we share? YES. Why should we share? Because scripture tells us to share our resources. What happens if we don’t share? Probably nothing will happen… other than we give up our opportunity to ‘share ourselves, and share the gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ’… as instructed to us in Matthew 28:19-20 – Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Given the CHOICE… I’d rather have ‘all of one’s knowledge’ … than all of his money; unless of course; we’re talking about Bill Gates, or Warren Buffett…then, I would want BOTH…their money and their knowledge.
Sharing ‘our knowledge, ourselves, and our resources”… involves a willingness to open yourself up to the idea of sharing… not only our personal information, sometimes, but always sharing the Gospel. This is why trust is so imperative. If you sense trust, you are more open to sharing your innermost thoughts without concern of betrayal. And, those your sharing with… are more receptive to your sharing.
What are we… that would be you and me… doing to SHARE our WEALTH?
