Who are our Leaders? ….Leaders are not just those sitting in the Board Rooms of Corporate America. They could be the one who is sitting across the lunch-room table from you, or sharing office space with you, or the guy in our carpool.
These leaders are selected by their peers. They’re the one “their peers chose” to look up to, to follow their lead, to seek their advice, or plan strategy with… their hero. They’re the one who stands out amongst their equals… not always liked… but always respected; not paid as Corporate Leaders… yet are still considered powerful. How do your peers view you? Are you a leader amongst your peers?
To gain this type of stature… or trust… amongst your peers… is quite an accomplishment. Such an accomplishment is not to be taken lightly; not to be frowned upon; not to be “set aside” as un-important. If you are fortunate enough to have achieved such a distinction… then you best savor it; “nurture it,” and protect it….and ENJOY it along the way.
Peer recognition is “absolutely essential” if you ever expect to be a Corporate Leader. Sure, one might be “appointed” a Leader; or “elected” a Leader, or one might be “hired” as a Leader. They can be a Leader in name… but if they’re “not accepted” by their “followers,” then…they’re Leadership will not be sustained, and for sure… not successful.
How does God view you? Are you a Spiritual Leader? Are you “leading His people?” Spiritual Leaders don’t have to be “hired, elected, or appointed,” to be a LEADER. The “only requirement” as a SPIRITUAL LEADER, is to have “set a good example.” We MUST live our lives, such that others wish to emulate us. We can do this by…loving, providing for, caring for, and serving…others.
God has a “plan” for each of us to be a “spiritual leader.” He tells us in Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. He also tells us in Matthew 28:18-20 – Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
This is not a “hint,” suggestion, or instruction…it should be considered a COMMAND. To fulfill this command…one does not have to go to the seminary (though some would), or receive specialized TRAINING…as the Holy Spirit will provide us with all that we need to fulfill scriptural requirements.
It has taken me 50 years to discover that God was talking “directly to me,” when I read this scripture. I am working hard to fulfill His Command by living such that some… might want to emulate me… and to accept this same scriptural challenge; to love, care, provide and SERVE others. God is speaking to all of us, about His plan, for us…each of us (that would be you and me)… but it is necessary for us to LISTEN. The Question is: Are we LISTENING?
