What defines you? Are you best known for that which you OPPOSE…or for those things you LOVE or promote? Are you, possibly, better DEFINED by your many accomplishments… or worse yet… for the single serious mistake you made 20 years earlier in life?
Do people applaud you for your public stand against abortion and gay rights? Or, are you criticized for favoring gay marriages and weaker immigration laws? Do you brag on being an atheist, or downplay your Christianity by watching Church TV, rather than being seen going to your neighborhood Church of choice?
Would you be willing to give your “very life” for Christ and your fellowman? Or, would you run for the nearest safe-house for Christians? Are you even definable?
James 3:10-12 – From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so. Does a spring pour forth from the same opening both fresh and salt water? Can a fig tree, my brothers, bear olives, or a grapevine produce figs? Neither can a salt pond yield fresh water.
Remember…who it was… that died… for whom. Did we die for Jesus Christ…or did Jesus Christ die for us? Jesus certainly set a “mark” for us to follow. He gave the ultimate… He displayed a sense of LOVE that no-one can replicate. He gave us something that we can NEVER repay…tit for tat.
But… we CAN give the “only thing” He asks for. He wants us to LOVE Him as the One True God; He wants us to BELIEVE in Him as our Savior; He wants us to believe and accept that He died for OUR sins. He wants us to seek His forgiveness and to REPENT for our sins. None of this is all that difficult. It’s difficult to understand why, for some… He is still rejected.
I recently read of some 35 or so, celebrities who espouse atheism. I was shocked. These… among many others of us… are in for a great shock. One well known celebrity said that if he is WRONG about his disbelief… then he guessed he “missed the bus.” He guesses? When you miss the bus to Heaven… there are no other busses…. No back-ups… No transfers allowed.
Ephesians 2:8-10 – For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
