1 Corinthians 6:13c-15a, 17-20 – Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food’,* and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is meant not for immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. And God raised the Lord and will also raise us by his power. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Should I therefore take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! But anyone united to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. Shun fornication! Every sin that a person commits is outside the body; but the fornicator sins against the body itself. Or do you not know that your body is a temple* of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.
For the average Joe or Jill… this is a very difficult scripture to relate to on a day-to-day basis. Society is telling us, today… particularly our youth… that ‘our bodies’ are for our own use… to do as we see fit… to use, or to abuse. This scripture tells us clearly… the body is not to be used for IMMORALITY.
I might add… this includes the BRAIN… and the mouth… all organs of the body. If Jesus is to ‘dwell within us’…if our bodies are the ‘temple of Christ,’ then… it’s not something that we have ‘complete control’ over. We are responsible to God… for what we do with, and how we use our bodies. Remember: We, each of us… were BOUGHT with the ‘body of Christ.’
… Blessing as we, all… seek God’s will. …cjlb…1/14/2018
