Focusing on the past closely predicts your future. I have a dear friend that I’ve known since the 7th grade…. About 1953. He lives, totally, in the 50’s and 60’s. I don’t criticize him…no way, as he is wise, loyal, and a committed friend… what more could you ask for? Never the less; he focuses on the past, and therefore is very predictable as to his future. This can become an unhealthy situation. If one lives in the past, and also, unable to let go of anger and practice forgiveness; then their future could be very bleak. Some of us have allowed ourselves to be CHAINED to the past, because they either don’t understand, or refuse to accept God’s great Gift of LOVE, FOREGIVENESS, and HOPE… for the future. As friends, co-workers, peers, and even spouses…we have an obligation to confront this type condition, and counsel that person, such, that they can escape the past, and start looking forward to the future; instead of always dreading tomorrow. Admitted, it is a very serious, and difficult situation, but one that cannot be ignored if we expect to have a happy, joyful, prosperous, and Godly future. 2 Corinthians 5:17– Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. Isaiah 43:18-19– “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Romans 13:12– The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. …Blessings…cjlb… 7/22/14
