TIME: A young acquaintance of mine drowned several weeks ago, when he got caught up in a “rip-tide,” at age 54, leaving his children fatherless. My natural Father broke every rule of good health, and lived an very active life until age 89. My Dear Mother, also broke all the “good health rules,” and died, much too early, at age 55. I read recently where a young Mother lost her only child to a hit-and-run drunk driver. It’s said that Methuselah lived 969 years.
We don’t know the date and time of our demise…. but God does.
Revelation 21:3-4 tells us: “And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying; and there shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
Some of us spend our entire lives waiting around to win the LOTTERY, or the “Good Housekeeping Weekly Sweepstakes,” rather than working hard to provide for their families. They focus on how they can milk the “system,” rather than working “in the system,” to better their stake in life. Then, there are others who focus, instead, on building their careers, supporting their families, and working tirelessly to help the less-fortunate, serving their community, and trying hard to live according to God’s will.
We can best serve ourselves, our neighbors, and God… by using our time wisely, honestly, selflessly, and generously. Matthew 6:33-34 clearly tells us – “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. ……Blessings… cjlb.6/12/15.
