VISIONARY: A blind person was once asked: ‘Can there be anything worse than losing your eye sight?’ “Yes, of course,” he answered….. ‘Losing your vision.’
How far out can one extend their VISION….an hour, a day, maybe a week…. Possibly, even…. An entire year? I’m betting that Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos probably have their visionary skills extending out several decades….but, do they know where they are going on Judgment Day?
How far should one ‘plan-ahead?’ How far into the FUTURE can one see? If your VISION goes out just a few hours, or a week… at best, then you probably have a very short-range of confidence, security, and control… and probably fit into the average category… where most of us reside. We should DEVELOP ways of knowing what’s ahead. We need to look beyond our day-to-day lives… surrounding our family, our job, and our social life. More importantly… where are we going, such that we’ll find joy, fulfillment, and happiness?
What’s in store for us as we navigate through the turns, bumps, twists, and valleys of life? We need to ‘prayerfully consider’ where we want to spend the rest of our lives. There are multiple decisions to make at every turn. Who to marry? Our children’s education? Our career path? And, choosing a Church whose purpose is to ‘guide us’… to the ROAD of SALVATION … is a decision of great discernment.
Most of us are caught-up in a ‘worldly life’ … giving little attention as to where we will spend ETERNITY? We are told in Galatians 5:16-24 – But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions.
Our VISION does not provide us our day of judgment. But … God has a greater plan, a VISION… including us all. Each of us are special… and different from everyone else. Our Creator, God… personally designed and made us the way we are….in His Image. Each of us having a specific contribution which… no one else can fulfill. Ephesians 2:10 – For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
….Blessings…as we seek to fulfill God’s VISION… cjlb… 3/17/2018
