“…The devil made me do it.’  Or, as a friend of mine… so often claims…’God KNOWS I didn’t mean to do it’…”

5-Times WRONGED:  I have a friend… an retired College Professor who has been married…get this… literally… five times… to 5 different women.  I asked him once…what the five former wives had in common that ‘so attracted him, to them?   He said that they were all great women.  So, then, I further ventured… I asked if he felt that he made a mistake …in marrying five different women, and he answered:  “No…No… I married five great girls, with no regrets….but the problem was… they’re the ones who made the mistake… when they married me.”

Ok… that made sense to me.  He was the common denominator in this entire scenario… so you guess.

Moral of the story:  Some people will never get it right… no matter… how many times they try.   Very often…we find… very successful people in business…who are complete and utter failures in their personal lives… going through multiple partners.

We all… are subject to making ‘mistakes’ in life…ever since Adam and Eve.  And, while we may make mistakes… and sometimes… very… very serious mistakes… there should be ‘no reason’ to keep repeating the ‘same mistake’…certainly not five-times.   Somewhere is the course of life’s journey… we ought to be ‘learning from our mistakes,’ so that… we don’t repeat them.  There is an abundance of grace, mercy and forgiveness available to us from God.  Just because of God’s saving grace… is not, however… an excuse for us to purposely engage in evil, or sinful acts… or to continually, and intentionally… do things we know to be wrong.

These types of actions cannot be passed off as…  ‘The devil made me do it.’  Or, as a friend of mine… so often claims…’God KNOWS I didn’t mean to do it.’

By God’s wonderful grace, He forgives us when we make mistakes. But we must not take God’s grace for granted and continue to sin.  We are reminded in Romans 6:1-2 – What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?  Psalm 1:1-2 – Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night.

If we could, say… view sin as a ‘Very HOT-3’rd degree burn’…then THINK… how many times do we want to repeat it?  Hell is ‘not a make-believe’ land.  Hell is a real place…a PERNAMENT dwelling place… for those who deny Our Lord, Jesus Christ… as their Lord and Savior.
