THINK?… INSIDE OR OUTSIDE THE BOX. Which is more important to the company owners? Which do you prefer? For me…I prefer In-S-T-B… and here’s why. When thinking Out-S-T-B… a business craze of the 50-60’s, is best used, when the company brings in an “outsider” who is totally unfamiliar with your industry. This outsider is given all the facts of the situation, and his job is to come up with the appropriate, and satisfactory, solution. The “outsider” has this ability, because he’s not looking through the same sets of eyes and minds as the normal and regular sources. He sees the solution more clearly.
Thinking In-S-T-B… is a seldom used, if not, a forgotten option. And an option that is set aside by industry experts as being old-fashioned management. It is not, because, (giving myself as an expert); when I defend my solution to an issue; there would be no-one better equipped than me to make the defense.
The fact that I would know all the potential solutions, relative to the given issue, gives, me, the In-S-T-B guy, the advantage. The Out-S-T-B guy, because he is unfamiliar with the issues; would have to have everything explained, so he can develop the “sought-after” solutions; thus, placing him at a distinct disadvantage…. To me, the In-S-T-B guy.
This example, B-T-W, is why it’s so much easier, I believe, to resolve issues from Inside-The-Box; as the Bible says in 1Thessalonians 5:21– Examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good. And then, Jesus said, in John 17:17 – Sanctify them through truth. Your Word is truth.
Rather “inside-the-box, or… out-side-the-box,” …we (that would me you and me) are responsible for, both… what we do… and what we think…and … no-one else.
