I am a ‘goal-setting person.’ I keep meticulous records of what I want to do; how to do it; time frame; and the COMPLETED project. I start with a ‘generalized goal.’ A ‘general goal’ would be, like … going to college; marry someone who thinks as I do; a certain career; living to at least 95…and, most importantly… I want to know, beyond doubt… that I am SAVED. These ‘generalized goals’… LACK SPECIFIC DETAIL.
While ‘generalized goals’ give one a sense of accomplishment… they’re still going ‘no-where-fast.’ It lacks DETAIL. I utilize, what I call POA… Plan-Of-ACTION. Generalized goals would be likened to an architect’s rendering of a building; whereas a POA would be likened to a complete set of construction plans.
Do you have anything likened to a POA? Backing up a bit… the idea of ‘wanting to go to college,’ while a lofty goal; just having it on a LIST, doesn’t get you there; same with marriage, and career goals. Plan ahead, EXACTLY… the CRITERIA of each goal. POA!
If you want to live long, then, plan a proper, and LIFE-LONG diet. Research food types, exercise, a certain life-style assuring a longer healthy life. We can’t wait to age 60 to decide we want to live to age 90. It takes PRECISE PLANNING. This is true in one’s SPIRITUAL life, as well.
Life is a process of LEARNING. So it is with our Spiritual Life. The more we PREPARE ourselves; PLANNING and STUDY… the better we COMMUNICATE with God… the more apt we are to having ‘life-ever-lasting’ with… The Lord God, Jesus Christ.
While Jesus died on the Cross for the SINS of mankind… the Blood of Jesus… is just the beginning of the process. It’s the beginning of the DETAILS. Each of us, has a ‘part to play’ in this process. We MUST BELIEVE that Jesus died… so that we might LIVE. We must CONFESS, REPENT, and ATTONE for our sins. We must CONVERT from ‘not so good’… to ‘very good.’ We must have a POA…a roadmap to Heaven.
Make friends with the BIBLE. PLAN on reading the bible on a daily basis. Evaluate the DETAILS of your life. Determine CORRECTIVE ACTION. And, ASSOCIATE with people life-styles, and circumstances, such… that LEND themselves… to a successful SPIRITUAL journey.
Two important scriptures are – Luke 10:25-28 – And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How do you read it?” And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” And he said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live.” And, in – John 14:6 – Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
So… let us… STOP, THINK, LISTEN…as we PLAN… in detail, our GOALS to SALVATION.
