“…The ‘right-rib’ is the bone that ‘holds everything together’…”

Image result for caricature of "adam's rib"To thrive in live you need three bones…a wish bone, a back bone, and a funny bone.  My Bride showed me this “corny phrase” a few weeks ago, and I made a note of it…. Thinking… cute, but ridiculous. But now, I can’t resist the idea of adding to the silliness of it.

THE WISH BONE: I relate to it “only” as a kid, with my brothers and I, always fighting as to who got the wishbone.  My two older brothers….always….won.  Consequently, until this day, I have never “wished” for anything.  God has “always provided.”  That said, the “wish-bone” is my favorite part of the chicken. Periodically, we’ll see “young-adults” still “wishing on the wishbone.”  Too, you may remember the old saying; “Spit in one hand, and WISH in the other, and see which one gets filled the first.”  All cute and silly.

THE BACK-BONE: Now this one; well… it has some “meat to it.” Having “back-bone,” is got some real merit to it. It takes, for an example, some backbone… just to have this website. It takes backbone, to do a lot of things… these days. Staying true to one’s committed choices. If you’re reading this article, then you KNOW that the basis of my website…BrOOKS-of-WISDOM, is “all about God.” In today’s SOCIETY; talking about God… well, it seems to be TABOO. He’s been kicked out of the Board-Rooms” of America. He’s been kicked out of our “schools.” They are “modifying” our currency (trying to leave God off of our coinage. In some sectors, they are eliminating the TEN-COMMANDENTS out of our Court-Rooms. So… anything “to do with God,” takes a BACK-BONE.

Then we have the FUNNY-BONE… I like that one too. If you don’t have a “funny-bone,” then you’re missing out on a lot of fun, enjoyment, entertainment, and exercise (it takes less facial muscles to laugh, then to frown). We all should have a “funny-side” because having a funny-bone is an “enhancer.” Having a sense of humor adds to the conversation; it brings humor to an otherwise drab situation; it makes being uncomfortable…. More comfortable. Every LEADER should have a “sense-of-humor,” or else he will be labeled a SOUR-PUSS, and no-one wants that.

The “ultimate bone” to have, or more precisely, what it REPRESENTS; would be “the bone,” that God removed from Adam’s chest. THE RIB! If you have the “right-rib,” than you can be counted amongst the very FORTUNATE. The “right-rib” is the bone that “holds everything together.” So, I’m adding THE RIB-BONE to the list of amusing BONES. I’ve been married to “my RIB” for going on “56 years,” and counting. How fortunate can one be?

We should all be aware that God wants us to have a “sense of Humor.” Take a look at these…. Proverbs 17:22 A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. Psalm 126:2 Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.” Job 8:21 He will yet fill your mouth with laughter, and your lips with shouting. Ecclesiastes 3:4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance. Psalm 2:4 He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision.
