“…The whole point of all of this “dribble” is to emphasize that we ‘waste-a-lot-of-time’…”

Time - Clock - Flying - 11-15-14How do you spend your day? I’m serious…. What do you do exactly?  Some of us, simply, have, at the end of the day, no idea of what they’ve done all day long.  No idea of what they may have accomplished.  Just existing. Twenty-four hours…shot…gone…never to return, never to use again.  In the end… it is said that we must account for every idle word.  We are told in Matthew 12:36-37 – “But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the Day of Judgment. “For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

For me, I know that I’m not prepared for that…I’ve had some pretty idle moments, and some pretty useless thoughts.  And, to be expected to have to answer for “all of that,” …um…a pretty awesome thought.  I’m going to ATTEMPT to share with you… a typical day of mine.  Consider several things as you peruse this article.  1) I’m basically retired.  I go to the office everyday, but I don’t have an office burden.  I’m not on a required schedule.  2) I’m 75 years old.  3) I’m probably (while I would not admit it), a bit, in SLOW motion.

Ok…so the weekly breakdown is: Bible Study = 28 hours; Church/Prayer, etc. = 28 hours; Web-site, writing, editing, etc. = 28 hours; Sleeping = 49 hours; Eating = 10  hours; office time = 15 hours; totaling 158 hours per week engaged in something productive.  This would leave 10 hours per week for “idle time,” or personal time that is, basically, un-accounted for (doctor appointments, etc.)….not even one hour and forty-five minutes per day.  I stay pretty busy.

Admittedly, this will vary.  These time-frames are based on averages.  For an example; I’ll take a breather from Bible Study, and that would cut in one-half…or more.  I spend a lot of time studying the Bible, because I’m 60 years behind in practice.   I’m just now getting where I understand the basics.  As I progress in my BIBLE KNOWLEDGE, I’ll cut back.  With this said; over time, my “idle-time” could be as much as 28 hours per week, or 4 hours per day.  But LOOK….if I can adhere to a schedule like this….so can you.  PLEASE let me offer you HOPE and ENCOURAGEMENT…each moment that YOU spend with Our Lord Jesus, in PRAYER, brings you that much CLOSER to every lasting LIFE with HIM.

The whole point of all of this “dribble” is to emphasize that we “waste-a-lot-of-time.”  You’ll note that I included nothing in the way of sports; as I don’t play golf, or follow any sports endeavors.  Coming up through the years; I spent all my time dedicated to my career, and what was “left-over,” I spent with my FAMILY.  Also, I have a STOIC personality, which leads to being “happy with who I am,” and not needing outside factors to find self-satisfaction.

I’ve always been on the religious side, so finding myself where I am TODAY, is of no surprise.  What is the surprise, though, is I feel that I am “doing exactly” as God wishes me to do.  It is VERY FULLFILLING, and I would hope/pray, that by sharing this with you; that you too, might seek more, by developing or improving your relationship with God, Our Lord Jesus Christ.

We are told in 2 Timothy 3:14-17 – But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Also, in Proverbs 3:13-15, it is said – Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding, for she [wisdom] is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. ….Blessings…cjlb…2/21/15.
