We are told in…Proverbs 12:18 – There are those who speak rashly, like the piercing of a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing…
This isn’t rocket science… just common sense. Treat people how you want to be treated. We are told very clearly in Matthew 7:12 – “Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.”
As Leaders, we often hold the lives of others in balance. Too often …just the slant of a word, expression, or a simple look in the eyes…especially when all added together… can make or break someone’s self-esteem, their moral, and, even breakdown their commitment.
As Leaders, we can, but should we… use our “tongues” for tongue-lashing? But rather… why not us our tongue for compliments, encouragement, affection, or a simple sign of respect. Bottom-line: Hold your tongue, until your mind shifts in gear.
Why not follow the advice we find in….Romans 13:8-9 – Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. For this, “YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, YOU SHALL NOT MURDER, YOU SHALL NOT STEAL, YOU SHALL NOT COVET,” and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, “YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.”
My Prayer is ….Dear Lord help me to ‘hold my tongue’ …using in for Your Glorification… and the Sanctification of others. Help me to be an instrument of Your Peace and a conduit of Your Love.
