GIVE UNTIL IT HURTS… was originally spoken by Mother Teresa at the National Prayer Breakfast in D.C. in 1994. She said: “This is the meaning of true love – to give until it hurts.” The basis of her comment is found in John 15:13 “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” This can be found to be the case, not just in the family setting, but also the office environment, friendships, and every aspect of life. Giving until it hurts applies when helping a co-worker prepare for a project presentation, giving him your time and talent, so the he might progress in his career pursuits. It applies when the Leader stays late, and works over on the weekend, preparing his assignments for the following week, so that the entire work force is able to get ahead. Then there is “giving until it hurts,” when you go without, so as to give to that homeless person, or others in need; equating to giving to Jesus. Matthew 25:35 – For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me. …. Blessings…cjlb…12/9/13
