Be Little, or Belittle….Are they different, or…are they the same? Some people try to make themselves look better by putting others down. This might imply that one is ‘belittling the other…but in doing so…they are actually “being little” themselves. So, with that said…then, they must be the same, or very similar, when applied to both sides of the issue.
Successful people, typically… don’t feel the need to belittle those of lesser status, wealth, and intellect. Successful people empower instead of judge; offer their assistance, rather than criticizing… and they listen instead of talking so much. Successful people develop a cast of followers …who will seek their advice and opinion, who will offer their help without your having to ask for it. If a successful person, or leader… belittles someone under their charge… then it’s either a lapse in judgement… or done on purpose…with purpose. I would find it difficult to believe, or understand that it would be done with ‘good intentions.’
Then, there is the individual… Wanna-be …the guy who seeks to belittle, and in doing so…he ‘becomes little.” That person is almost always belittling someone… on purpose. It is their intent… to be ugly, to be difficult, and to make life miserable for the individual involved… and all of those involved in the process.
This type of individual… I call a Wanna-be… will NEVER be anything… but a trouble-maker. His actions speak volumes for his integrity, morals… and honor. Instead of ‘working hard’ to build his own career… he is dedicated to tearing the other guy’s down. Unfortunately, these types are able ‘mask’ their intentions…such, that they go accounted for, until the damage is done. But, of course… they are always DISCOVERED, but only have their dastardly deed is done. Shame on the RASCAL.
The Apostle Paul…tells us clearly in… Ephesians 5:13-14 – But their evil intentions will be exposed when the light shines on them, for the light makes everything visible. This is why it is said, “Awake, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will give you light.”
I’ve had to deal with this type of “rascal” early on in my own career, on any number of occasions. I learned to deal with this type of ‘problem’ by getting up earlier, working longer, working harder…and, being confrontational as necessary. I stood tall, and maintained my sense of honor and integrity. Good trumps EVIL… every time.
Caution: Not all ‘trouble-makers’ are up to no-good. Some are up to KNOW/good. Notable ‘trouble-makers’ who were up to KNOW/good were… Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, King David, Moses, John-the-Baptizer….and the Great Apostle, St. Paul himself.
So…not everyone is “out to get you.” Do your homework, and KNOW the difference.
