DEVIATE: I don’t like going the conventional route, or doing the expected. In fact, I want to do the UN-EXPECTED. You may remember; sometime back, I referred to myself, as being abnormal, was my normal. If there’s only two ways of doing something, then, I’m trying to find a third way of doing it, and usually, I do. Oh yeah, and I hate the instruction sheet. With all this said; my personality type has never faired well in the Conventional Corporate Community. I go to extreme lengths to “prove” that I can do it my way; and over time, this has worked well for me, but I don’t advocate it for someone who wants to play along to get along. There are many unwritten rules of etiquette in the business world, and to go against the tide only spells trouble. So it is in the military and educational environments. We humans always want to DEVIATE from the planned route. Moses was denied entry into the Promised Land because of it, and Jacob balked at having to go to Egypt; all because they thought that they knew better than God. God may direct us along different paths throughout life, but He does not change the ultimate destination. We need to stay out of God’s way. We do not compromise or deviate from His standards but “walk only in His path.” We hear only God’s voice (1 Kings 18:21; John 8:47; John 10:27), and we do not yield to or permit any deviation from His Word (Deuteronomy 4:2; Psalm 119:128; Revelation 22:18-19). …Blessings…cjlb…9/1/13
