“… To live in a cloud of mundane, idleness, and routine, is an invitation to satan….”

“O’hum….same ole…same ole.”  You ever feel like that?  I know that I have.  But…I do something about it, too, sooner than later.  I’ve belonged to the same Church for 45 years, but I rarely go there anymore, as I go here and there; changing often.  I get bored looking at the back  of the same heads.  I need a change.  Over time…I move my office furniture around, so that I feel like I’m somewhere else for a while.  I go out of town frequently for the same reason. I part my hair on the left side on odd days, and on the right side on even days.  I like to wear things that don’t meet certain dress codes.  I even change shoes twice each day, mostly, because my feet hurt.  Aside from all of this (above), I’m pretty much a traditional kind of guy.  I guess you’ve figured it out by now….I’m the odd type.  Just ask my wife and kids.  I like it that way.  If you go through life un-noticed…then no one is going to know who you are.  Charles Brooks WHO?  I don’t want to BLEND in.  I like the un-expected.  I try to keep on the move… I might be exaggerating a tad bit (not much), but I can’t stand the status-quo mentality.  I’m thinking ALL the time on how to make something, that won’t work….to work.  I love solving problems, doing things that most others have given up on.  I like PROVING that I can do what nobody believes that I can do, or that is seemingly impossible.  All of these types of things keep me mentally alert; something that as we grow older, is going to become increasingly important.  I am always trying to BE PREPARED.  Remember… we are responsible for our actions, our deeds, and our miss-deeds.  To live in a cloud of mundane, idleness, and routine, is an invitation to satan.  Remember Jesus was always on the move; He was on a Mission, to fulfill prophesy, to save all of mankind; His “food” was to do the will of His Father in Heaven.  Sitting around, waiting on “the people” to come to Him was not on His agenda.  He went to the people.  He walked to the mountain top, down through the valley, and across the water.  There was always a disturbance going on around Jesus.  I want to be like Jesus.  I don’t expect to be perfect, no…of course not, but no one will accuse me of not trying.  With all of this gibberish… one thing that is steady, routinely available, always within reach, never missing, always reliable, and forever faithful…. It’s the Love of God.  We forget what Jeremiah says: “The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22-23) Like the clouds, routines can block out the newness of God’s love and mercy. …Blessings…cjlb…5/04/14
