I SICK and tired of being miss-understood. But what…can I do about it? Not a darn thing. Being “miss-understood” is the STORY of my life. It started back when I was in the 5th grade in Miami (Coral Gables) Florida. At least, that’s when I have my first memory of it. I was always having to DEFEND myself; even today.
At age 75, one would think that it wouldn’t bother me…but it does. Let me say…just because someone is “up-in-age” doesn’t mean they don’t have feelings too. I’ve gone full circle….from not giving a rip what people thought, to being, probably, too sensitive to what they do think. It all gets down to this: Human beings have a wicked tongue. WE have a propensity to putting our “tongue in gear,” before we put our “brain in gear.” I guess….we’re just human.
To some… they enjoy belittling others, particularly those who “appear to be the weaker.” I know….I’m guilty too. I’ve said things that I thought to be humorous, but to some…it was not. And, I’m thinking….well…I didn’t mean to sound that way. Or, I didn’t mean it the way you took it. For most of us…those with “dry-wits,” we say things…thinking ourselves to be FUNNY…like we’re in charge of entertaining everyone…that we think is FUNNY…that’s NOT FUNNY….in fact it’s HURTFUL.
There’s a lot being said these days about “freedom of speech.” Sure… that’s our God-Given right….and our legislative right…to say what we want to say. But…just think a minute…. Do we have a right to hurt other people all the time…. Or even some of the time….and use HUMOR is the excuse? I don’t think so.
It’s just a matter of the GOLDEN-RULE. Some of us feel strongly about it….others have “no-feeling” what so ever. The fact is this: We’re going to have to ACCOUNT for every idle word we utter. So it says in: Matthew 12:36 – “But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the Day of Judgment.” We are also told in Romans 12:18-20 – If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men. Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, “VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY,” says the Lord. “BUT IF YOUR ENEMY IS HUNGRY, FEED HIM, AND IF HE IS THIRSTY, GIVE HIM A DRINK; FOR IN SO DOING YOU WILL HEAP BURNING COALS ON HIS HEAD.”
…So there we have it….I’ve got that off my chest…and I feel better; and I’m leaving VENGEANCE up to the Good Lord…… Blessings…cjlb…1/25/15
