“…W-O-W…it was the worst pain that I had EVER endured in my life. I just wanted to know if I could endure the PAIN without actually dying…”

Image result for a "man of courage."Courage: We all…must come out of hiding. There are some number of us… who are very courageous; doing what others fear, intimidated by; and often at the risk of great physical pain or discomfort.

About 15 years ago… when my brother was diagnosed with Stage-4 Colon Cancer; I had never had a colonoscopy, and I absolutely dreaded the idea of doing it. I was very fearful, like him, that I would be diagnosed with Cancer. The medical people will sedate you such that it puts you out for about 20 minutes, allowing them time to do the digging, grinding, and cutting…and filling you rear-end with a bunch of “air.” Ugh!

Well, after going through that same ordeal 2 times over the next few years, I decided just before sedation…actually, while lying on the gurney… that I’d try doing it without being put to sleep. W-O-W…it was the worst pain that I had EVER endured in my life. I just wanted to know if I could endure the PAIN without actually dying.

It was TERRIBLE, but certainly not life-threatening. Since that time frame… I’ve had 5 or 6 more, all without sedation, and all less painful (mind over manner). Here’s my point…we all are capable of enduring more pain than we think would be normally possible.

There are times in our business career, family life, and God-Time that we MUST come out of hiding and do… what some suggest, would be very painful. They’re droves of corporate head-hunters who are constantly looking for courageous leadership… someone to do the impossible, the dirty work, the timely; and the necessary. They look for that guy with the…KILLER INSTINCT.  YOU can be that person, AND you may already be that person, BUT you have not yet… come out of hiding.

We are told in 1 Peter 3:13-14Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened.”……but courageous.

To me…pain is good. Believe it or not… it’s another GIFT from God, the Holy Spirt. It is to prepare us for the inevitable. We must expect hardship and suffering, because our Lord Himself went through the same and He warned us of what we will encounter, where Paul says, “All who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted” (2 Tim. 3:12).
