What is your SPECIAL gift? We all have a certain something that we’re very good at; what’s yours? I hesitate to say what I THINK that I’m good at…I can hear everyone laughing now…but, I think that I have a gift with WORDS, and to some extent…Art. I heard a recent sermon by Rev. Dr. Richard Lincoln, where he told a story of hearing a group of youngsters who were attending a special camp, sing in a Choir. The camp attendees, all, with degrees of Autism, had formed a Choir. Dr. Lincoln pointed out one boy, who could play the piano as if he were a Grand Master of many years. But the true story was; during the first week of camp; he sat in the back of the choir, not singing, not doing anything, but listening. Later that week, the youngster sat down at the piano; having NEVER played before, and started playing ALL of the various songs the Choir required, and could even play the guitar. After this day’s presentation, Dr. Lincoln approached the lad to compliment him, but got no visual or verbal response…. but highly impressed, he remained. The point here…. playing the piano was the SPECIAL gift that God had given the young boy. While most of us don’t suffer with Autism, still, we all have received unique Gifts from God which we can excel in, should we wish. Too often, we overlook these hidden talents, leaving them as a noise in the silence of the desert. We should hone these special skills and offer them up to Glorify God, by returning this Gift to Him. Ecclesiastes 10:10, “If the ax is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed, but skill will bring success.” …Blessings…cjlb…10/27/13
