Early on in my career… I learned to do what was necessary, and required… to succeed. I married the love of my life, at 19 (nearly 58 years ago), I worked longer hours than my peers; worked every Saturday, attended night school for 11 years, obtaining two business degrees by age 32; never bothered with lunch; and was afraid to take a vacation for fear they’d find out they didn’t need me. I PAID my dues!
I was Interim Division Chief Accountant by age 30 with a top 100 National Corporation, and became a VP-CFO at age 32 of a $100MM Corporation. I formed my own Real Estate Development firm at age 43, developing motels/hotels/office building, and restaurants. I share this short story… as an illustration of what hard work, due diligence, commitment, loyalty, and a deep desire to succeed… will do for you…. Just as it has done for me.
We ALL have the capacity to be a Participant. But I was not alone, I had plenty of help. I harnessed other people’s skill-sets to compliment my own; never taking NO for an answer, together with a deep commitment to God. I was a risk taker, yet recognized my limits, in terms of financial capacity, my own abilities, and never took on a task that I was not confident of success. I was determined, with God’s help, to stake out my own future.
Some who read this, will think that I’m boasting, and, so I am, only to this extent: I KNEW there would be no successes… without the loving, and loyal, support of my wife, family, and the Guidance of Our Lord God, and Savior, Jesus Christ. Spectator Christians are those who have prayed the sinner’s prayer and are content to go to church on Sunday, drop a few dollars in the collection plate, sing a few songs… and perhaps volunteer, on occasion, for one of the ministries. The true Participating Christian… are those who participate in His mission on earth… on a daily basis, a bible reader, and pray “unceasingly.”
Jeremiah 29:11-13 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Thank you God. …Blessings… 11/15/16
