The “POWER”-of-ONE: What is this thing, called…the power of one? This is not a trick question. Well, it could be a person of little power, or more likely, a majored-powered person. It’s really up to the person seeking the power, and those who BOW to that power.
Their level of power is determined by their followers. A minor-powered person would be the local mayor, and the major-powered one might be the governor, etc. If you consider the national or world scene; there are some very powerful people. Seventy years ago, Hitler was considered a world-power-house. Julius Caesar would be one, as well. Certainly Moses, who led some 4 million people, and then… Solomon, who was considered the “richest” and, therefore, the most powerful of his time, if not…. all of time.
There are, also, some powerful people, like you and me, who can influence others to do this or that. We might be minor-league powerhouses, but we often carry a big stick. One “very powerful person,” would be the “head-of-the-household.” This person, almost always, would be a one “very powerful” guy; sometimes even to the point of the “abuse-of-power.”
Our Church Pastors carry that type of Power, as well. We all possess the power-of-one, but typically don’t exercise it, or even worse… we don’t know how. One’s use of the “Power-of-One” could save a lost soul. Or, it could be your “work supervisor, or the school principal. Those that have the Power-of-One must be careful not to abuse their power, even more so, on the National level. Think of the POWER that a single supervisor would have over … say…. over 10 employees, versus the supervisor who is responsible for 100 people; or the Tribal Leader who is CHIEF of an entire nation of subjects. Let us not forget the “power-house-abuser” in the form of Jim Jones, the cult leader who lead some 900 people to suicide. Or, equally atrocious… David Koresh and FLDS Leader Warren Jeffs… all evil “co-satans.
There are some who exercise the POWER that is “given to them,” and yet others (far too many) who seize, or take, power that is not given to them legislatively, or through the appropriate legal channels. These particular “powerful people” are almost “ALWAYS up-to-no-good.” Those who have these “special powers” can use it for “good or for evil.” Our PROBLEM, today, is that too many of our Leaders ABUSE their POWER… sharing this POWER with satan himself.
Throughout the Bible, God challenges the “abusers of power” and raises people to speak up for the vulnerable – and He still seeks out those who have the Power-of-One, even today. These people, God wishes to “use” them to further His Cause. We are told in Ephesians 6:10-16 – Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
