THE END! …What does one think about… when they KNOW their life on earth, is about to END. There’s different ways to go, but the end-result is still the same….The End. Some bible scholars suggest that we ‘immediately go to Heaven or Hell.’ Others refer to conflicting scripture about being ASLEEP, in DARKNESS, in PARADISE, and some use the term… PURGATORY, as a ‘purification or cleansing process’ …for some amount of time. In THE END, final judgment… God will assign us to our permanent station… for eternity.
My point: Are we PREPARED to die… for JESUS? We live in a SOCIETY where ‘anything is possible,’ meaning… any kind of death is possible. We’ve seen PROOF of that in the last few weeks, and months. Add to that… the more normal types of death. Death due to adverse health, old age, accidental, and various forms of killing one another. The Bible, especially the Old Testament, describes some ‘pretty horrible’ types of death. And, we see more of those horrible events in today’s society. No matter how one dies… in a few moments… it will be over, unless it is a ‘torture death.’ But, even that has an END. Remember the Crucifixion.
Remember the widely circulated reports telling the story of high school student… Cassie Bernall, being a Christian martyr in the Columbine high school shootings of 1999. It was reported that one of the killers asked her if she believed in Jesus… when Cassie answered, “Yes” … he killed her.
None of us will have an option of how we die; unless, we plan our own death. Some… plan their own death… avoiding a lengthy illness; or associated COSTS. While that type of ‘choice’ may be an option; it’s not a trend. To my utter shock… my own Great Uncle, at age 95, decided it was time to go; and arranged it.
I think of myself being ‘ready and willing’ to die for Christ. I pray that if that were my destiny, that I would hold true to my willingness. What would you do? While a bit morbid…to the ‘true believer’ … it’s a valid point… deserving ATTENTION. As believers… We are asked by God, to believe in that His Son died on the Cross for the sins of all mankind; that we must be born again, to confess and repent of our sins, and to do our best to change from bad to good.
We have a CHOICE… not in ‘how we die’… but rather, or not… we are ‘right with Jesus.’ There are some who read this… who are already at the doorstep. I PRAY that we all are prepared to ‘die for… and with, Jesus.’
We don’t have a choice as to how, or when we die… but the choice of ‘where we spend eternity’… is ALL ours. …Blessings…cjlb…3/6/2018.
