“…We tend not to deny these ‘worldly opportunities’… but, too often, we think nothing of turning down, or denying God.

No!  Can you imagine telling your Boss…NO?  As we are in pursuit of our career… one would not often turn down an opportunity to move up the ladder.  Can you imagine denying our children, our wife and family, or those others… that depend on us for their needs and welfare?  Opportunities are everywhere. If one were to ‘turn down a promotion, or transfer’ in their career journey… they would be domed.  Early in my career, I turned down a career opportunity of a lifetime… and I was dead-meat… for doing it.  Not once… but TWICE.

Matthew 22:14 – For many are called, but few are chosen.  Matthew 4:19 – “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”

We tend not to deny these ‘worldly opportunities’… but, too often, we think nothing of turning down, or denying God.  In the course all of life’s journey… we see more opportunities than people to fill them; but in the case of God calling us… He seeks us out all the time, willing to entrust great opportunity…for life everlasting success…with Him; and yet, we’re too busy to open the door and allow God into our life.  Remember; God does not necessarily call us for ‘just spiritual’ things.

God offers opportunity in every facet of life…not just spiritual; as He knows and controls all things.  As told to us in Hebrews 4”12-13 – For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

We will be held accountable, and judged, by what we do, as well as what we don’t do.  Isaiah 59-2 tells us…But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.

So, the bottom line is this: When God calls…it would not be wise to turn Him down…He may not call again.    Blessings…cjlb…4/3/2018.
