“…We’re all trying to find that one thing that sets us apart from the herd… a TRADEMARK…”

Let us be BOLD:  A former neighbor used to put his yard trash in front of my house.  I thought him to be rather BOLD. His argument was that he was putting it in the City Right-away… was TRUE, still… he was both… RUDE and BOLD.  I’m rather BOLD on occasion myself.  My BOLDNESS, from a career perspective… is challenging and daring.   Boldness does spill over into other avenues of life…business, personal, social…and even… spiritual.

I’ve been known to dress a bit flashy on occasion.  My wife considers me to be ‘forward and showy’ for doing it.   I admit… sometimes, I do it …because ‘I want to be NOTICED.’  The peer-set would consider it breaking certain rules of propriety… being forward in front of management…breaking tradition.  Being BOLD?

For me…who wants to blend into the wall, or worse… for senior management not to know who you are?  There is risk involved… but the reward is well worth the risk.  Even Steve Jobs knew how to employ BOLDNESS.  He dressed as Sloppy-Joe all the time, and because of that …he stood out.  Did Steve Jobs have to ‘stand-out?’  Probably not…but, I’m sure… he didn’t want to be confused with anyone else.

Corporate America seems to be heading towards the ‘sloppy-uniform.’  People do ODD-BALL things, act in odd ways, dress in odd costumes…all… to get attention.  Why?  They are SELLING something.  They are selling THEMSELVES.  They are BOLD!  Have you ever noticed what some people do to overcome what they consider to be too much of … The Too’s?  They’re too short, too tall, too fat, too ugly, too this… or, too that.  They… act BOLDLY.

We’re all trying to find that one thing that sets us apart from the herd… a TRADEMARK.  Boldness is recognized… as having more COURAGE, more DARING, or more ADVENTUROUS.  Remember Einstein?  His BOLDNESS (his long messy hair) was his TRADEMARK.  We all want a TRADEMARK.   And, for many of us… BOLDNESS is the asset that defines that trademark.  So… the next time someone suggests that you’re a bit BOLD… take it as a compliment… because NOW… they know who you are.

If you’re still a bit concerned about being bold….then, consider this: Ephesians 3:12In whom we have BOLDNESS and access with confidence through our faith in him.   Acts 28:31Proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all BOLDNESS and without hindrance.   Proverbs 28:1The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are BOLD as a lion.   Acts 4:31And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with BOLDNESS.

The fact that I am on LINKEDIN, and… having a website… entitled: BrOOKS-of-WISDOM, speaks loudly… with CONVICTION, and BOLDNESS on the Word of Our Lord, Jesus Christ.  What better way to display… BOLDNESS?  When properly used… with the proper intent… BOLDNESS…is a Gift from God?
