Well… it all depends on how one’s career is shaped, or developed? First… there’s schooling, then…on-the-job- training, mentoring, maybe an appointment, or possibly …an inheritance, and if they’re really fortunate – They’ve EARNED it the HARD way…hard work! So …how one achieves their stardom is important… particularly from the perspective of peer competition. Remember the old cliché’ … “it’s not rather you win, or lose… its how you play the game.” It’s the outcome of the process that counts. While playing by ‘the rules’ is always important… the more you lose… then the rest seems a bit insignificant.
So… the important questions are: Was success obtained? Were the desired goals accomplished? Were the ‘rules of the game’ followed? Were the participants fair and honest? Was the Golden Rule followed? Were any dead bodies left along the way? Ouch!
While success is the desired affect; it’s how we achieve that success… that makes it a truly ‘earned’ success… for everyone involved. Saint Paul… knowing he is at the end of his journey… tells us in… 2 Timothy 4:7 – I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
We believers of today… have no greater sense of fulfillment …in knowing, as Paul did, that we have fully accomplished all that the Lord has called us to do (Matthew 25:21). May we “fight the good fight” and “be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, and… fulfill [our] ministry” (2 Timothy 4:5).
… Blessings… as we traverse our journey…. Cjlb… 9/7/2017
