As others view your daily stance in life… in your career; your social life; your family life…or, most importantly… your spiritual life… What EVIDENCE will they see of your Integrity, Commitment, and Knowledge of your product, and service? One’s life can contain these attributes, but if they’re not easily identifiable… then for the ‘viewing public’… they don’t exist. One can have a kind, and charitable heart…but unless there is ‘clear evidence’ of it in your daily life… then, again, to the ‘viewing public’ …it does not exist.
What evidence would one find regarding… your position on the ‘moral aspects’ of a current situation? If you don’t live, or conduct your life…such, that that your moral compass is clearly evident… then they don’t exist.
If you claim to be a ‘God-fearing person,’ then those you come into contact with should see clear evidence of your ‘Christian-walk.’
One could raise the question…What difference does it make? Thinking… “I live a good Christian life; I am a hard worker; I represent my company appropriately; I treat my social contacts respectfully and fairly…AND…God knows I’m a good person. I don’t care what others think!”
Well…think again. It is important what others think! Some of those ‘other people’ who see how you’re conducting your life…might also, be the same people who sit on a finance committee at the bank, or the character and fitness committee with the local bar association, or the membership committee of the country club… or the Deacon committee who determines your acceptability as a church leader. And think again…it might be your own children who ‘wonder if Dad is a Christian.’
None of these people should have to ‘guess’ where you stand on any of these scenarios. The type of life you live should be evident. It is, in fact… good, bad, or indifferent …part of the EVIDENCE. Do other people seen the “fruit of the Spirit” at work in your life? Can those ‘other people’ see genuine love, joy, peace, and long-suffering… placed in your heart by God’s Holy Spirit? Do they sense that your goodness is evident?
The Apostle Paul tells us in Galatians 5:22-23 – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
These characteristics should be clearly evident if we are to represent the ‘evidence of Christ’ in our lives. Remember, too… for all of us…“our life” is made up of 24 hours each day. These hours consist of all functions of life…business, career, social, play, family, personal time, hidden time…or spiritual time. You can be sure of this… if ‘anything evil’ is present…it will be clearly evident… just as ‘anything good’ is clearly EVIDENT.
