“…………..what’s in a Name?”

Go GameCocks!

Go….. GameCocks!

What’s in a NAME?  Names are more important as we get older.  When I was 6 or 7, some red-headed-kid called me an SOB; and his name was Chuck.  I didn’t like him or his name.  I could not bring myself to call my first born, Charles, so Chuck it was.  I’ve had my share of last names, too.…Lehman, Barry, Lehman, and finally Brooks.  I thought that I was being adopted but they were just changing my last name.  Brooks stuck.  I lived with my last father for 9 years, and he left a good, and lasting, impression on me, along with his good name; for which I am proud to have had, for some 53 years.  Aside from the fact that I don’t think birth names should be subject to change, ever… mine was, and I’ve tried to bring honor to it.  My own children, and grandchildren have followed me in that journey; all making us proud to be a Brooks.  As we flow through the stops and turns of life, we should be aware of the name that we leave behind; a birth name, or not, always follows you.  Our name is our legacy and our reputation.   Proverbs 22:1-2 A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold. The rich and the poor meet together; the Lord is the maker of them all. …..cjlb..…8/13/13
