“…When, though… I went without a ‘mirror for 24 hours’…it sunk in…HEAVY.  I did LOVE myself… after all…”

PRIDE VS PROUD:  WOW…are we guilty of the “I LOVE me…sin?”  If you’re ever in doubt about rather or not you’re a bit too PRIDEFEUL… then go 24 hours WITHOUT the use of a MIRROR.

Think about ‘it’ in this perspective… is when I began to understand what Jesus was talking about when He said to “Love your neighbor as YOURSELF.”  I NEVER thought of ‘loving myself.’  When, though… I went without a ‘mirror for 24 hours’…it sunk in…HEAVY.  I did LOVE myself… after all.

The sin of PRIDE is thinking of yourself higher than you ought to be doing. On the other hand…Being PROUD of yourself, or anyone else, is recognizing who you (or they) are, in the scope of life’s journey. Being PROUD it more joy-based than selfish-based. It is in rejoicing that we lift people up, instead of our looking down at them….

Remember, we are made in the “Image of God,” so how could we not be a tad bit PROUD?  One of the tragic results of sin is that man no longer properly images God; the remnants of the image have been marred. The relationship with our Creator is broken, and redemptive history bears witness to man’s inability to obey and honor God.  The wondrous truth of the New Testament is that mankind has been restored through Christ, the perfect image of God (Col. 1:15)… in which…His redeeming work restores the Image to repentant sinners and establishes them as co-heirs with Christ.
