“…With all that said; I am not suggesting that “my way” is the only way….no…no….no….”

Often times the very first thing we do each morning will determine the “outcome” of the day.

Now….I’m not talking about taking a bath, kissing your spouse, etc…..let’s say….what’s the first “meaningful thing of consequence.” What do you do first? Popular opinion is that most people “check their emails.” Um….I’ve NEVER even thought of that….where have I been? For me….I check the weather.   And, for clarification, I do that as soon as I get out of bed.   I’ll get into what I do that meets my criteria….later.

First, let’s talk about what you (or someone out there) does.  Some may go to their “today’s to-do list.”  Others may start returning phone calls before it gets too late in the morning.  Still, then, there are those who have a “meeting” every morning at the same time….say…8AM.  And, of course, while not meaningful…some cannot even function without a cup of coffee.  Of course, there are the “crises” that hit you in the face as soon as you walk in your office door.  Oops…. I left out those that check the “stock market” before they do anything else.

It would seem, then, that what we do first thing in the morning….should be…the most important thing there is to do….to start your day off “just right.”  All of these various “things of consequence” that I listed above….well… all are important; some even dramatically so.  OK…. Here’s the first “real important” thing I do….

Each…and every-single-day.   I’m down on my knees…. Praying to God…. the Savior of all mankind.   Take it “what-ever-way-you-want.”   It’s just the facts. I cannot get my day started without “engaging God.”  Aside from the “obvious,” this process will put me in the frame of mind and the proper gear….  To get my day off to the right start.

With all that said; I am not suggesting that “my way” is the only way…..no…no…no.  It’s just as I say it is….my way.  Others may find a more appropriate time frame to do the same thing…..morning…. noon, or night.  Your call.   I would, though, STRONGLY encourage you to “always include God” in your daily ROUTINE.  Don’t leave God out of the equation.

I start the day off…. Just as I said… first thing in the morning…on my knees. Talking to God…for me… is the “most important” thing in my day.   It works BEST for me… doing it that way.  It puts in the right frame of mind.  It clears out the cobwebs.  It puts everything into perspective…. PLUS, by doing it FIRST thing…. You are “putting God FIRST,” and foremost… ahead of everything.   Try it.

OK….One might question…. Why on the knees?  Isn’t that a bit childish?  I don’t know about that…. I NEVER prayed as a child, much less on my knees, so I don’t have a reference point.  But here’s what I do know…. Jesus Christ died on the Cross…. A horrible death.  He voluntarily died for “our” sins…. To wash away the effect of “original sin.”  Cannot I….then….do something “so simple” as get down on my knees …voluntarily…. For Him? YES…. I can, and I do.  Try it.

In Matthew 21:21:  I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.

I don’t say these things from a “spiritual perspective,” but, from a common sense perspective.  If you believe in God, that Jesus Christ died for our sins, then what I am saying…. makes perfectly good sense.  If you’re a non-believer… then it won’t make a particle bit of difference to you, and just as likely…. a non-believer is not even reading this posting….. Um….or, maybe (s)he is.

….Blessings….cjlb…12/28/14.
