“… you probably wonder why I have a friend like that…but wait; don’t we all…”

??????????????????I saw God today!  Many of us go through life…NEVER seeing or hearing God.  I was out in about with a friend today when this great event happened.  I saw God…but my friend did not.  I talked to God, but he did not.  We BOTH had the same OPPORTUNITY, but I took the Lord up on His visit…. But my friend did not.  My friend, well, he’s a terrific fellow.  He is kind, hard-working, generally a caring person, particularly when he sees an opportunity to see a “return” on his investment.  O’sure…he believes in God, but he doesn’t care about God, or have “time” to visit with Him.  He thinks that it’s good to have Churches, but hasn’t been in one in 50 years.  He believes in the Ten Commandments, but thinks they’re for the people who need order in their lives….but he doesn’t need any.  He’s not in good health, but sees that as having BAD-LUCK.  I could go on…but you get the point.  Many of us sit in Church every Sunday, but we don’t participate.  We like the songs; but they keep us awake.  The sermon is nice, but the preacher is just doing it because he can’t find a better paying job.  Besides… he’s probably having an affair with the Church bookkeeper.  You see…. God is all around these types of people, my friend included; but they’re just keeping the seat warm; but one day….they’re going to wake up to a “real-hot-seat.”  But it might be too late.  My friend and I went to our monthly luncheon together today, and our waitress was a NEEDY-middle-aged women who was really hurting.  I gave her a sizeable tip and told her to have a blessed day.  He thought that she brought misery on herself and was just dressing for the part.  As we were leaving, a young black girl…all smiles and happy…held the door open for “us” as we exited.  I thanked her and smiled back complimenting her for being so thoughtful; he thought she was looking for a hand-out.  We were heading to my car, and noticed a meter-maid putting a ticket on my car.  I apologized for being late and told her that I hoped she had a nice day.  He thought that she would have voided the ticket if I had slipped her a “fiver.”  But…you see…I saw God in that waitress; and I saw God in that little girl holding the door; and I saw God in that meter-maid, who was just doing her job.  I had the privilege of conversing with each of them; and KNOW that God was speaking to me…through them; and too, I know that He made each of them in His Image.  I know… you probably wonder why I have a friend like that…but wait; don’t we all.  You might be sitting next to one at Church; or maybe you live next door to someone with that perspective… thinking they can “do-it-all-by-themselves.”  I don’t tell this story to bring attention to my spirituality, rather… it’s as an opportunity to SHARE-THE-GOSPEL by the way I live, and treat others.  Some will see the example (that I try to set), others will not.  Some will respond… others will not.  It’s NO DIFFERENT than writing this article… some read it, some will not.  Some will read it, and not have any idea what I’m talking about.  You see, it was not all that many years ago, that I was just like my friend….but, I had a friend…who set the example for me; and by the Grace of God… I heard God speak to me…. through him.  Matthew 6:19-20 – “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.  Proverbs 29:7 – A righteous man knows the rights of the poor; a wicked man does not understand such knowledge. … Blessings… cjlb …9/13/14
