What, or where… is your ‘hot spot?’ What the heck is a HOT-SPOT…? Years back, a ‘hot-spot’ was a place where one could go, and have a good time. For some, it was Key West… for others… Miami Beach or Ft. Lauderdale. Here locally, it was the Library… Hi-Hat Club, or the Skyline Club. They were all safe places for teens and young adults could go and have fun.
From a Commercial, or Corporate perspective…The Hot Spot… could be a ‘transfer’ to HELL. A place where ‘no-one’ wanted to be assigned. And, some corporations, even… PAY extra premiums to those who would accept such a ‘dead-end’ assignment. Globally speaking… it could be a place in the ‘far-east’… somewhere considered a ‘bit treacherous’… such as, Iraq, Iran, or maybe Turkey, or Greece. Places where your very life would be in jeopardy every day you were there. Mexico is fast becoming such a Hot-Spot. For the young college-age kid… it could be that ‘out-of-the-way Junior College, or boarding school’ that you were being FORCED to attend. From a Technology view…. It might be considered a place where you could pick up a ‘free-signal’ or ‘hot-spot’… for which you could connect… for internet purposes.
Another “hot-spot” that we don’t often think about would be HELL. Hell… you say? You heard me right…..H…E-double-toothpicks. Some might ask… ‘What’s the connection? Look…. We can run from reality all we want…. But someday, we are going to have to account for “our choices” in life. When we make bad choices…. We can expect some ‘hot-spots’ down the line, sooner, if not later. For it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow to me, and every tongue will give praise to God.” Therefore, each of us will give an account of himself to God (Rom 14:10-12). The stark reality of Scripture is that every person, Christian and non-Christian, is accountable before a sovereign God (Rom. 3:9-19) and will one day have to bow before Christ (Phil. 2:9-11). Jesus said, “From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, even more will be asked” (Luke 12:48b). Many reject this declaration of Scripture by all manner of human rationalizations and bias, but their rejection cannot alter the reality of accountability. And…In Matthew 12:36 He said, “I tell you that on the Day of Judgment, people will give an account for every worthless word they speak.”
